    Hi,

    My friend got EAD.His wife is on F1 visa.If he starts using EAD instead of applying for H1 extension, Can he able to join his wife to his GC process who is currently on F1 when his priority date become current.His priority date is Sept06.140 Approved.july 2, 2007 filer.485 is pending.

    Form AR-11 asks for the date my stay in the United States will expire. What date should I use? Currently, I am on working on EAD (I-485 pending) and last entered US on AP.

    Note: Sorry for a duplicate thread. I posted my previous one in I-140 section. :confused:

    My in-laws attended visitor visa interview at Hyderabad Consulate on 25th Feb. My mother-in-law (not working) got her visa (no questions asked) but father-in-law (an electrical engg manager, still working for central govt) was asked to fill out a questionnaire related to his professional experience and then given a white slip with a case number/email address and asked to email his resume/CV for further processing. He was told it would take 7 days to process his application.

    I tried searching for similar cases on various forums and found some cases but couldn't find information on how long they took to approve the visa. So I was just wondering if anybody here has any further updates on such cases. Appreciate any feedback.

    In fact my wife went for stamping in November 2009 and got it stamped with no questions asked....mine was in january 2010....so i guess it just depends and u have to be prepared for it....

    I submitted an AR-11 (address change) form on 3/13/2008. The LUD changed the next day to 3/14/2008.

    However, the LUD changed again yesterday to 3/17/2008. Has anyone had experience with AR-11 and LUD updates. If so, please share if multiple LUD updates are the norm for AR-11 changes....

    I had soft LUD's on all my receipts after sending AR11, but it took three days after I did (did AR11 for all the receipts online)

    If I-140 is approved and priority date is current is it possible to keep on extending H1B for couple of years without applying for I-485? I am asking this quetion because my employer is not allowing me to apply for I-485 as my I-140 is pending. It looks like he want to use me for couple of years on H1b.

    You can apply for I-485, Even if I-140 is pending. Talk to your employer and use this opporturnity to get I-485 filed asap.

    I did it about 10 days before scheduled date in July. Went around 2 PM. The guy at front desk was reluctant but let me in due to my case being genuine pregnancy after discussing with supervisor.

    I need to clarify if you are working for employer A for say BS+7 yrs and want to apply GC through Employer A then the 7 yrs exp is not counted against experience ( very rare cases it can be considered if the new position is completely different)

    IF you are processing your GC for future employment with say Employer B then the 7 yrs is counted.

    Did that clarify your doubt

    Thanks Rune, that helps a lot. I am still wanting to know if anybody else uses this camera in the studio. Maybe this thread could evolve into something that others can post what they use.     Arizona's new immigration law is a bad idea whether you are an anti or a supporter of comprehensive immigration reform. The reasons are different for each but the idea of a state taking crazy measures points to the failure of congress and the administration to take meaningful action to correct what is becoming a system that is failing the immigrant community and our entire nation.

    What does the Arizona law do?

    Arizona's law orders immigrants to carry their alien registration documents at all times and requires police to question people if there's reason to suspect they're in the United States illegally.

    What do opponents say?

    Critics, including immigrant advocates and the American Civil Liberties Union of Arizona, say they are concerned the law will foster racial profiling, arguing that most police officers don't have enough training to look past race while investigating a person's legal status.
    It also targets those who hire illegal immigrant laborers or knowingly transport them.

    Are other states considering similar legislation?

    Michael Hethmon, general counsel for the Immigration Reform Law Institute, helped draft the language of the Arizona bill. Hethmon said lawmakers from four other states have approached him asking for advice on how they can do the same thing where they live. He declined to identify which states, citing attorney-client privilege.

    Is federal immigration legislation coming?

    Democrats say that if they don't get Republican commitments soon, they likely will push to move a bill without GOP support.

    Democratic sources said the chances of passing immigration reform in that scenario this year are slim, but they want to make clear to key constituencies they are at least trying.

    President Obama is still pushing for a bill, though.

    Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina is the only GOP senator on board, but he has told Democrats they will lose his support unless they find another Republican. Obama recently called Sen. Scott Brown, R-Massachusetts, to try to get him on board, a Brown spokeswoman said.

    Bottom line is that this bill does not make Arizona safer or its residents free of criminals. It's anti-immigrant and unconstitutional.

    You can extend apply for AP (Advance Parole) ;-) at anytime provided you have your 485 pending so there should be no "risks"

    only risk i see is that what if you have to travel and for some reason your H1 stamping gets delayed (if you have a AP you will be safe there)

    Also their processing times keep on fluctuating - what if you later down the road are
    in need of AP apply for one and then dont get it approved by the time you want to travel

    Personally I prefer to just keep things simple and apply for AP renewals even though
    I wont use them - just so that there is no "divergence" from the norm
    Just so when USCIS officer is processing your case they wont have to think or
    issue query to get clarification etc etc

    That's the most surprising part:-).
    Probably they need to validate my H4(my current status in US) based on his
    H1 validity.
    But thank God,my woes r over now,as I got my approval today.
    But the applying for SSN woes r going to begin soon.

    Hello,
    Assuming a 40 hr/week position, a person works 2080 hours per year. The Annual Salary for a $46/hr position is $95680/year.

    Also, if you only have annual salary for the new position, you could convert to hourly by dividing by 2080.

    But I wouldn't even worry about all this. Just send in the annual salary figure (just for your own satisfaction make sure it is more than $46 per hour) and USCIS will figure out the rest.

    Hope that helps.

    Actually if you factor in 10-12 holidays and about 20 VC days it will come to roughly 1824 hours a year or roughly 152hr/month avg.
