Yes. Its up to the VO to grant the period of stay. You could enter US even with one day left on the visa. Once you are on US soil, its I-94 that determines the duration of your stay (which has expiry date).
IMHO, that's a big risk as you will never know if the IO just gives for a month, 2 months or 6 months.
There is the risk of getting stuck in security processing if you apply for another visa as shared by another member.
For your friend's case s/he needs to weigh these risks and see which one s/he can take.

Recently, I made my own PP photos using http://www.epassportphoto.com/
This is a great service - It creates a jpeg file from a picture that you upload, and you can choose the "free" option in which you can save the jpeg file with 4-6 pictures in one frame (A 4" x 6" photo can yield 6 pp photos of 2" x 2"), and take it to Walgreens/Costco/Kinkos for a printout for $0.25 each. Otherwise you pay about $8-$12 for 2 photos at the same stores!!
For a family of 4, this equates to savings of ~ $40!!!
The site has all the tools for meeting various types of visa/pp/etc photo requirements for various countries.
Most WOLF camera and RITZ camera stores do the same thing for free. I have done this many times. Use a good digital camera and take the pics in memory stick or USB and they crop the photo to the right passport specifications. All you pay for is the print which is $0.25 or less.

My luck is just not good w.r.t GC. Afte long wait my spouse finally had received her FP notice and is scheduled for her FP in couple of days. But today she accidently burnt her finger and that too right at the spot where we give the FP.
Guys , any suggestion as to what needs to be done. Should she still try to give the FP and see if it works. She has a big blister on her finger.
Any similar experiences , please post.
Yep..not to worry..just go there on the date of appt..they'll just ask you to come back when the finger heals...I cut my finger...officer made a notation on my form and asked me to come when it heals..I went after a month and got it done

My friend got a letter from USCIS saying his H1 B transfer got Denied due to Client Contract / Letter.
1. Is he out of status?
2. He can appeal with proper evidence to show that we have contract..with clients..

Maybe you can give me my answer. I imported a file from Swift 3D, published, F12 to view, and then went control enter to view the size. After almost choking when I saw the size it added to my SWF (255K for a 7 letter word, spinning) I decided immediatley that was intolerable to my movie size requirements, and deleted the entire Swift 3D animation from my Movie. Took it out of the frames, the library, every place imaginable. And I was floored to find what it did to my Fla. It ruined it. My Fla went from 605K to 8.9 MEG. For all the various purposes of how I use an Fla, it is ruined. The ghost of that Swift 3D stays with my Fla even today. Like a cancer, cannot get rid of it. Can you tell me how to get it out so I can restore my Fla?

We have a wealth of information from A to Z on US Immigration, why dont we ourselves write articles and editorials and get them published in the News Papers, Journals, etc?
Why are we waiting for some one to come to us and take information to write articles on us. Does Newspapers check the background of authors to verify if they are citizens/non-citizens/green card holders/ H1B's. What all matters to them is quality and authenticity of the articles.
Do you folks think this a good option to pursue?

I received my GC in first week of September'09. After receiving GC I have continued with my sponsor till now - & they continued giving me pay (after the usual big cut from my rate). During the I-485 petition filling my employer has given a letter to USCIS for "future" employment with a fixed base salary. They never gave me this after the GC & now if I go on "bench" they are refusing to give me any salary (since I am using GC & they are not bound to give me the H1B minimum wage!).They may continue my medical insurance (for family & me) provided I pay the whole part! I wanted to continue with my sponsor for six months after GC but under these circumstances is it OK to leave them now & if I face any issue at naturalization will this be a valid reason to convince the officer(in case they ask this question)- although I do not have anything in writting from my employer(except the "future employement letter" & paystubs & e-mail replies to my queries for this)
I am leaving many opportunities just to be with my sponsor for this six months!
Please guide.

The lawyers usually advise you to stay with the company for 6 months if you can. In your case, the employer is not willing to pay. So do you really have a choice here?
It may be easier to convince the officer that you moved on to another job (maybe similar kind) rather than having a situation where the sponsoring employer was not willing to pay.
When you are trying to make such important decisions, do not just rely on responses from blogs/forum. Consult a immigration lawyer for a few hundred dollars.

Is there such a pattern? Members may post their experiences and hardships on IV.
DHS does takes measures to control fraud and abuse - but if it is affecting geniune people then genuine people can write about their issues here.

I was thinking that I can get the F1 > Opt > H1 > File 485 thru EB2 Since my spouse's 485 is stuck in mud with priority dated 2003 EB3 category. So, I was wondering that can I have file my own 485 EB2 parallel to my spouse EB3. I would really appreciate if you could provide guidence or alternative approach. You raise a number of issues for which there are no clear or certain answers. My advice would be to request the extension of H-1 status without submitting pay stubs, and in the event of an RFE, respond with evidence of your complaint about your previous employer. If your new employer needs you to start work within three weeks, premium processing would be required, and even then, if there is an RFE, the timing will be tight.
